Thirst for the Living God.

This song just came on and these things are all so true of God. It blessed my heart to just be able to sing along and pray this to the Lord.

“You Are For Me”
 By: Kari Jobe
“So faithful. So constant.
So loving and so true.
So powerful in all You do.

You fill me. You see me.
You know my every move
and You love for me to sing to You.

I know that You are for me.
I know that You are for me.
I know that You will never,
forsake me in my weaknesses

I know that You have come now,
even if to write upon my heart.
To remind me who You are.

So patient, So gracious,
So merciful and true…
So wonderful in all You do.
You know me. You see me.
You know my every move.
You love for me to sing to You”

God is good!! This is what I read today (Psalm 42)…so encouraging and my prayer for today. My soul pants for the Lord. My soul thirsts for Him. Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God.” My God is a good God. A holy God. An awesome, amazing God. I am only satisfied by him. My thirst is only quenched by him. I am reminded of the passage in John 4 about how Jesus is talking to the Samaritan women at the well (vv. 13-14): “Jesus said to her, ‘Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.’

Thank you, Lord.

As a deer pants for flowing streams,
so pants my soul for you, O God.
     My soul thirsts for God,
        for the living God.

When shall I come and appear before God?
My tears have been my food
        day and night,
while they say to me all the day long,
        “Where is your God?”
     These things I remember,
as I pour out my soul:
how I would go with the throng
and lead them in procession to the house of God
with glad shouts and songs of praise,
        a multitude keeping festival.

Why are you cast down, O my soul,
and why are you in turmoil within me?
Hope in God; for I shall again praise him,
        my salvation and my God.

    My soul is cast down within me;
        therefore I remember you
from the land of Jordan and of Hermon,
        from Mount Mizar.
     Deep calls to deep
        at the roar of your waterfalls;
all your breakers and your waves
        have gone over me.

By day the LORD commands his steadfast love,
and at night his song is with me,
a prayer to the God of my life.
I say to God, my rock:
        “Why have you forgotten me?
    Why do I go mourning
because of the oppression of the enemy?”
As with a deadly wound in my bones,
        my adversaries taunt me,
while they say to me all the day long,
        “Where is your God?”

Why are you cast down, O my soul,
and why are you in turmoil within me?
Hope in God; for I shall again praise him,
        my salvation and my God.”

 (Psalm 42 ESV)
